Kathryn Tickell originally from the Midlands has made her name in the Folk World for her virtuosity on the small Northumbrian pipes.On “Water of Tyne”, Kathryn is joined, amongst others, by The Unthanks, Bob Fox and Hannah Rickard.As the title suggests, the album is based around songs and tunes on the river Tyne, from the beautiful meandering instrumentles of “Between the Piers” and “The Skipper’s Wedding” to the gentle songs featuring the aforementioned Miss Ricard, “Song for a River at Night” and the title song “Water of Tyne”, each track will transport you back to a time in the North Easts history and its rich heritage.
