I had tried this in a size 40 on in a store and loved it. Ordered from Amazon to save some money and found it large in the bust and tight in the rear. I'm a usually a medium, size 8-10, kind of person but this was too roomy. Tried it on in the store one size down and it was better. This jacket is very well made - the kind you'd keep for many years. It is lined with a soft warm fabric so it's not a shell. Would be too warm for a summer shower and probably too light for under 20 degrees. It's also slightly stiff although it moves well with the body. Might be a bit bulky for stuffing in a bag or backpack which is a concern for travel. The styling is gorgeous - tapered and a-line below the waist. Probably made for a taller person and wouldn't work for a petite. Covers the bum plus a little more length which is nice for warmth and dry in a the rain. I'm definitely thinking of getting this in the smaller size. This is a wonderful jacket, but it fit too snugly in the waist. Looked good, but I knew I wouldn't be able to wear with a sweater. So, I sent it back and have had to order one size up from a different vendor, as it was no longer available on Amazon. Details about this jacket worth mentioning: Although it's made from a slightly stiff fabric, it's soft and not crinkly the way some rain jackets are. Also, it's bonded to an inner material that is like felt, so it's cozy. This does make for a heavier jacket than just a shell. Great details like the rubber gasket surrounding the zipper give good confidence that it keeps rain out. Sleeves run a bit long. And as others have pointed out, there are a lot of places where the designer's name appears, so it's a bit like wearing an ad! Still, I loved it enough to hope that one size up will do the trick....I love my new Ilse Jacobsen jacket! I saw this jacket in a store over the weekend but they didn't have it in my size. Was thrilled to see it on amazon with free prime shipping for the same price. I love the quality, material and styling. Very well made and durable but quite unique and stylish. There is a little flare in the back which I wasn't really sold on and am still debating whether I should take it to a tailor to have it taken out. I tend toward clean straight lines without much embellishment. Am going to live with it and hopefully it will grow on me more. The jacket is so fabulous that I'm willing to overlook it; its probably a feature others would appreciate more. I will be on the lookout for Ilse Jacobsen pieces in the future as I'm very impressed with this coat! Here my advice: If you can afford it: buy it.It's raining a lot where I live, this coat keeps me perfectly dry and on top of all things: itlooks fantastic.Yes, the sleeves are long, but what fashionable people tend to forget: this is a rain coat,so it is supposed to protect you. The long sleeves (they are not t h a t long either...) really comein handy when riding a bike in the rain.I'm tall and slim, the 38 fits perfectly. (This is a nordic European designer,if you're from Spain or Italy, order a size down.) Et voilà.This coat is for my daughter. I purchased this coat two years ago for myself and I wanted to get her one. This was been the best coat I have ever purchased.I did read a customer thought the sleeves were too long. The reason they are long is because the coat is made in Denmark where many women ride bicycles. The sleeves are made long to keep wrists warm and dry.I have washed this coat many times after traveling with the water resistant laundry detergent (purchased on Amazon).I cannot imagine that I will ever need another raincoat. The overall fit of the jacket was as expected. As previous reviewers mentioned, it's a slim fitting coat and I was ok with that. It's a really nice coat and I would have kept it if I was about 3 inches taller. I am 5'7" and this coat was too long. I like a long coat, but this was an awkward length on me. Otherwise a really nice coat.Fantastic against really torrential rain. A lot of jackets claim waterproof, but after awhile, you eventually get soaked. Not with this jacket, you can see the water rolling off. This jacket is advertised as a shell but because of the material, it actually retains heat very well. I've used this down to 20-30 degree weather so far, so it's replacing one of my winter coats, too!I love this! Dresses up everyday jeans & a tee. I bought the indigo color, a rich deep blue. Style lines give great shape to the coat, enhancing your figure whether zipped or not. Hood is perfect in size, enough to protect your hair from rain but still lets you see out. One note about sizing, I bought a size 36, which translates into a size 4. Fits close through the chest up through the collar-bone area. Arm length is fine for me, at 5'6", 120. Hips are very generous. Great coat for yukky weather, warm & very pretty. This is the second coat I have bought fro this company. The zips break and then you have to replace the whole coat as they are sealed. The zip is impossible to do on my only 11 month old coat!Love everything about it, keeps out wind and rain, smart for town. Some jackets let in water around the seams especially on the shoulders but these don’t. This is the second one I’ve bought as the other one is used for dog walking and is rather muddy, they’re hardwearing and have good sized pockets.Perfect fit. I'm a size 12-14, this coat is a 14 and has room for a jumper underneath but it is very comfortable and warm without the need for a jumper. Great for chilly, freezing and wet weather. Good fitting hood as well. Lovely colour. Very well made. Great quality. So pleased I choose this coat as I love it.I spent ages considering whether to get a 10 or a 12. I am 164cm or 5ft4" tall.If you want to wear chunky layers underneath definitely go for the slightly bigger size.I ordered the size 10 which is a snug fit but if i had ordered a size 12 then the sleeves would have been too long and it would have been too broad on the shoulders. It is warm, looks really smart and is perfect for showers or spring sunshine.Stylish and comfortable. Length just right for keeping my thighs dry and size a little more roomy for wearing a hoody underneath on those cold days. Great colour as works well with jeans. Washes well. This is my 2nd coat in this range as I was so pleased with the taupe one bought last Spring.
