Description
Product Description Rose Nadolsky, who teaches kids French via the fun approach of French Wiggleworms, sang throughout her Michigan childhood in the church choir and in a folk trio with a couple of girlfriends before performing in many musical comedies in college and professionally (Hope Summer Repertory Theatre in Michigan and Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago). She studied singing in Chicago with Peggy Skarry and the late Henry Noel. In January, 1997, she began bringing her then one year old daughter to Wiggleworms at Chicago's famous Old Town School of Folk Music, and joined the OTS teaching staff in September of that year. She was a full-time, scholarship dancer and instructor at the Lou Conte Dance Studio (home of HUBBARD STREET DANCE CHICAGO) in the late 70's and early 80's. During those years, she was also a member of a company that was a spin-off of Hubbard St. Called DANCE & CO. (performing at schools and dance venues in and around Chicago). She's also a French teacher at Language Stars, a total immersion foreign language learning center based in Chicago. Rose has been a performer since childhood, initially as a ballet dancer, a flutist, and as a dancer/singer/actor in musical theatre, operettas, and straight theatre. She has a BA in theatre from Hope College (Holland, MI). In the mid 1980's, she retired from theatre and dance and became a voice-over artist and broadcaster, voicing hundreds of radio and TV commercials, industrials and educational programs. She worked as a 'booth announcer' at Chicago's WMAQ-TV (channel 5), and for two years hosted a weekly New Age music program called 'Sunday Soundscapes' on WNUA Radio (95.5 FM, Chicago). In 1989, she spent several months living and studying French in Paris and Nice, France. Since then, she has performed as a spokesperson several times in Paris (in French), and continues to do free-lance voice-over work in both French and English. Recent assignments include the narration of two documentaries for public television. Rose's teaching philosophy: Music is part of my essence. Throughout my life I've found endless joy in various musical endeavors. How fortunate I am to share that part of myself with others at the Old Town School! Since I speak French, I'm also able to share my love of that beautiful language with children, parents and caretakers via my CD, 'La Voix en Rose.' Nice work if you can get it. Exposing children to music and a second language gives them a leg up on life. Introducing them to these skills at a very young age, within a fun, loving atmosphere is a priceless gift. Unlike toys, music becomes dearer to your child as s/he matures; the early imprint of the sounds of a second language hones a child's capacity for accurately hearing and replicating all sounds, especially that second language. Listeners of La Voix en Rose will not grow up to be 'ugly Americans' in Paris!! I love this CD. My sister sent it to me when I was pregnant and my son is now 8...I still love it. I just bought a new copy. I have used this in many kindergarten, first and second grade classrooms and the kids loved it. I am a French teacher and it is the only one of my French CD's I can listen to all the way through over and over again and the only one my husband doesn't mind in the car. Rose has a beautiful voice and the single voice/ acoustic guitar combo are great for singing along with.
