Bought this to replace an identical one that finally failed after 9 years of steady running and benign neglect. The center ceramic core shaft finally broke into three pieces but only after the bad power in our area had it stopping and starting multiple times; and my own experiments with trying to add various types of filters from sheets of filters to Koi filters. None worked as well as just letting this persistent device just run. So the new one has been steadily and faithfully on duty with no additional filtration and it does exactly what I want it to do: Shut Up and Run. Very pleased with the industrial strength of this pump. The company even kindly sent me a couple of replacement rubber shaft ends after I popped one off into the grass during a cleaning episode. The only drawback is removing the filter end of the veloute. There are two opposing snap-ins (for lack of a better term) that are extremely difficult to push in to get the filter off and get to the actual shaft and impeller. Once that's off, it's easy to clean but boy! what a wrestling match it is to pry off that end. So with the new one, knowing this difficulty lies ahead, it's Benign Neglect all over again. I'll attack that when we begin to freeze up here in Colorado some time in October.Just installed an MD1250 to replace my third 1200gpm direct drive Little Giant, all of which fail after about 3 years of continuous work in my 4' high waterfall. It's quieter and works fine but I cheaped out. Atlantic calculations showed I should have bought the MD1500 but I was afraid it would be too much. It would have been perfect. For the same rating it moves a little less water. So I get less water noise than before, which I regret, but I'll save a fair amount on electricity because this one is a lot more efficient and, being a mag drive, I expect it to last a lot longer. Do their calculations and trust them. The water feature stopped working in a home we purchased last year. We hesitated replacing the 'dead' Atlantic Water Gardens MD1000 TidalWave pump with the same model when we found out what it would cost. But after researching what it takes to move a column of water upward through the two drilled basalt columns in our water feature, we decided we needed the same pump that had installed by the first owners. We couldn't be happier - the pump does an excellent job of creating just the full bubbling effect that should be at the top of each rock column. And there is NO pump sound at all - just the bubbling water. The pump is at the bottom of a new 30 gallon 12" deep pond-less water garden basin we purchased from California Water Gardens to support the heavy basalt columns. If "something is worth doing, it is worth doing right", and this is a quality pump. Do it right......it broke after the first moth of using it. But the company replaced the impeller when I emailed them with the problem. Good response. I installed the new impeller and as of today is working. It took several adjustments for it to revolve freely in the magnetic field.Bought this pump to replace identical one that has been in use for 7 years.I purchased the pump in conjunction with the 3 way fountain and 46" Water basin. All have been installed and work great. The pump has been running for about three weeks with no problems. Setup inside the water basin was a easy with the 3 way kit.Excellent flow in my backyard fountain.Want to buy another one
