Hallmark Channel rarely disappoints me with movies. I love "The Trail to Hope Rose"! This is one of those good ole fashioned, make you feel good movies. Christine is a woman who has fallen into dire circumstances (like so many women who came from bad situations or poor families with too many mouths to feed back in the days of the old west). As a result, she lives with Gerald, who is a mean drunk. Keenan is a Native American ex-con, looking to make a fresh start working in a mine, who can't ignore Gerald and Christine's arguing, nor the bruises that show up on Christine the next morning. Christine ends up moving in with Keenan and they end up married, which doesn't deter Gerald, who wants Christine back. I won't give away the ending but you'll find out the significance of the title. Ernest Borgnine plays Eugene, a wonderful, grandfatherly type character, who you would just love to sit on a porch in a rocking chair with and chat about the little things in life. Lee Majors plays the local lawman. This is a good movie that I've watched multiple times and still enjoy.
